India Romeo 10
Phase 2 and
IR10 are still buzzing! We’ve arrived back in Guliyada re-energised and raring
to go after 5 days training at Raleigh Field Base and Myrada. We’re also
spurred on by our knockout success in the Raliegh fashion show at Field Base,
from which we’ve emerged as the overall winners due to Hannah and Beas
incredible elephant costume. We also came a close second in the comedy competition
with our rendition of Geri Halliwells’ ‘Raining men’.
Whilst at Field
Base the team split up to attend conferences on health camps, construction,
secondary projects and beneficiary selection. Consequently the group is full of
plans and ideas and have been busy drawing up charts, planning construction,
visiting the 26 beneficiaries and brainstorming our plans for the health and vet
camps. Following this we successfully held a meeting for all the beneficiaries
to educate and explain the importance of what they are receiving. The posters explain
how to use the cattle sheds, vermi composts and azolla pits and were
beautifully delivered by Manoj. Our luck continued as we received a promise of
a chicken from a beneficiary, which after a month of vegetables, produced a lot
of excitement.
Spurred on
by our numerous successes we have made visits; firstly to Attapaddy where IR11
are, as we will be collaborating with them for the health camp; and to the
nearby villages to look into locations for the imminent vet camp. We spoke to the village leaders about advertising
and administrations for both the camps.
The last
few days have been spent working hard to dig the foundations and now we are
greatly anticipating the arrival of materials. We’re all feeling fit, healthy
and rejuvenated from the fresh fruit and eggs we bought during our trip to our
local town Talavadi which were prepared into a delicious breakfast by our master
chefs David and Kim.
Lots of
love,
Rob, Raja,
Sidheswaran, Bomma, Oliver, Kim, Jayne, Manoj, Hannah, David, Luke, Ekanthamoorthy and
Bea.
Dear Hannah Amies,
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed the latest blog from IR 10.
I love your vision and ambition. An elephant costume no less! No mountain can't be climbed?
To cap it all, you have taken well to manual labour? Who'd have thought? Is there no end to your talents? Loving your letters. You should receive one from us soon, if not already and I'm just off to post another. Love you lots. Mummy xx
Bea Natzler IR10 Great to read the latest blog. You sound busy and happy and having fun. Grandpa brought your birthday letter to him this Sunday and we have all been thrilled to read of your first inpressions of India. I took your reference to "tigers (harmless)" as a mother's day gift! Thank you. Take good care and on with the good work. All love, Mummy
ReplyDeleteFor Bea (IR10) - Hi! It's Rob (English Rob, not the funny bloke you're stuck out there with) - got back from uni and home doesn't feel right without you snoring in the room next door. There's a handwritten letter coming your way, but thought a quick shout out first wouldn't hurt. Take lots of care, dodge the harmless tigers and have a great time. Mummy says you should also take care around the elephants ;) Lots of love,
ReplyDeleteRob
