Today is the big day! We have been intensely training these past 14 days. We have sweated, cried, slept and pulled our way through the tough course set by Raleigh International’s very own taskmaster Paul.
The leaders have completed their Project Planning and have visited their respective villages dotted across Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. An enjoyable 3 days of meeting the leaders of the villages, the beneficiaries of the eco-sanitation units and their project partners with a whole host of enthusiastic children following in their wake. Accommodation has (almost) been sorted and equipment has been ordered all in preparation for an incredible learning and cultural experience in a week’s time.
We will be educating our news teams arriving today in the art of Raleigh International’s Code of Conduct, Health and Safety, Hygiene training and PRA training so we are well equipped to take on the challenges of a eager village. Our mission: to experience a completely new culture, to build eco-sanitation units, to build bio-gas units, to set up health camps, to establish self help groups, to learn about development and to have a great 10 weeks.
