Namaskara and Happy Dasara from the Field Base team

Today is an auspicious day in the state of Karnataka as the festival of Dasara comes to its close and all houses, vehicles and objects of work are blessed with good luck for the coming year. Here at Field Base we have had our own celebration and our cook Shastry performed the rites. We have have lots of decorations, incense burning, offerings to Ganesh and the smashing of melons filled with red dye to signify good luck.

Many of the groups have been calling in to tell us of celebrations in their villages so keep watching as we will hopefully get some great stories and photos coming this way very soon!

Good luck!

A few of our UK volunteers have been asking about their recent exam results, and we thought it may be a good idea if their families wanted to post as a comment, we could pass them on. Obviously we wouldn't publish the results, we moderate all comments before they are published but we could pass the results to those that have asked and want to know by phone after the group has given us their daily report.

Further to the passing on of comments you post here; we collect them and as we visit the project sites we hand them out to individuals in hard copy. Unfortunately we can't pass on all messages through the daily reports system because we have so much operational information to give and receive and with 10 projects in total reporting in we just don't have the capacity. But rest assured we do pass on every comment!

We will endeavour to get as many pictures and postings of what everybody is up to over the coming weeks, although we do have limited time and manpower resources. We are aiming for 2 posts a week at the moment and we have asked all the groups to submit articles and stories as often as possible, although photos may take a little longer as they are all remote and we can't get to see them every week to be able to get said photos. Keep reading and sending your comments though, everyone loves receiving messages from home!
