IR5 update at the beginning of second phase

India Rome 5 have now been back in the village for over a week.

So far, they have travelled around the mountains of TN, saved the chickens from certain death by raising them as their own, and climbed mount Mavalam and stated the hard work of digging the foundation for the 15 beneficiaries. Construction has finally begun with the building of the first cow shed, and IR5 are settling in with the village, especially with the Diwali celebrations which was huge fun for everyone, and the village children calling the volunteers’ names every five minutes.

Although the weather started rather wet, the sun has been out for the last few weeks, and everyone is developing a nice builder’s tan. The stars at night are particularly clear this high up especially when the electricity is off, and IR5 saw 8 shooting stars on the last night of Diwali.

Everyone in IR5 have been well and fit for the entire time so far, and although we are missing home a bit, are much looking forward to the second half.
