Blogging snail mail style

Not that easy to organise and in one case written in part on toilet paper we bring you the first reports from our two intrepid ICS groups. Sorry for the delay, I've been meaning to post this for a few days. Plenty more blogs to come from our two teams on a more regular basis. First up a report compiled by all the members of Charlie 2.

Charlie 2 – Indranagar

The village is compact, surrounded by farmland on one side and forest on the other. The living facilities are basic but people seem happy.

On arrival there was a lot of excitement. Local villagers surrounded us, children wanted to say hello and shake our hands.

The village is always a busy mix of people, children and animals. The newborn kids (baby goats that is) always evoke a response of aawww.

The villagers are incredibly hospitable and receptive, constantly bombarding us with offers of food and chai.
Charlie 2 give their new home some refurbishment

We are staying at the village school which means we are never far from energetic happy children.

The girls stay in an empty classroom where they have divided it into dining and sleeping sections using tarps. The boys stay in a half built house next to the school. In the past couple of days they have levelled the ground and made seats out of bamboo so now we have a really cool communal area.

We began PRA exercises in the village and had great success. The villagers were eager to join in and we managed to learn a lot about the history and facilities available within the village. However unfortunately due to the passing of the village leader we have had to postpone these exercises out of respect.

A good turnout for some initial PRA exercises
After a few more days at CIDOR we look forward to continuing the PRA exercises. On getting back to the village to do household surveys we expect the villagers to be very welcoming again and we can expect plenty more chai as well as some interesting interviews.
